Winston Churchill has said, “First we make our dwellings, and afterwards our dwellings make us.” That in a nutshell is my secret muse. While everyone assumes I am focused on making rooms pretty, or on making a pretty penny from my rooms, I am really trying to make families feel better about themselves. I am trying to collaborate with homeowners and designers to create rooms that are at once affirming and disarming, serene and comfortable, evocative and even inspiring. ◊ I have always believed in the power of the subconscious, and in the power of color, texture, dimension, and movement to subtly speak to our subconscious. I have bet my career that walls can evoke romance, inspire the soul, and reassure our jangled nerves. I think that is what Ruskin meant in the Stones of Venice when he said, “A wall has no business being dead.” Because of my beliefs, I have worked these twenty years to create colors and textures that would foster self esteem, frame special occasions, and free families from the restive noise of modern life. ◊ And that is what I want to do for you and your family, to work with you to create an affirming refuge, uniquely yours, true to craftsman like traditions and good taste, and fit for the good life. |
